Jeanée and Garth
Jeanée Ledoux is a writer, editor, and maker in Decatur, Georgia. Her passion is transforming everyday items—and even garbage—into beautified crafts friendly to the earth and her budget. She is the author of Abode à la Mode: 44 Projects for Hip Home Decor (Sterling, 2006), which features cheap-chic ideas for rented spaces. She contributes to publications such as Adorn magazine, Atlanta Home Improvement, and supernaturale.com.
Jeanée enjoys volunteer leadership roles in DIY events such as the 2008 Craft Congress in San Francisco, Craft Supply Swaps, and Atlanta's Young Blood Handmade Holiday Market. Along with her sister Suzanne, she is also codesigner of Honeydoux jewelry, which gives new life to vintage buttons and other found treasures.
Garth Johnson is a studio artist, writer, and educator who lives in Eureka, California. In addition to maintaining the website extremecraft.com, Garth has contributed to publications such as Craft magazine, Craftivity: 40 Projects for the DIY Lifestyle (Collins Living, 2006), and Handmade Nation: The Rise of DIY, Art, Craft, and Design (Princeton Architectural Press, 2008). His first book, 1000 Ideas for Creative Reuse, will be released by Quarry Publishing in November 2009.
Garth received a BFA from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and an MFA from Alfred University. He has taught at Georgia State University and Columbus State University and is currently an assistant professor at College of the Redwoods in Eureka. He is a sought-after lecturer and visiting artist, with recent presentations at Virginia Commonwealth University, Louisiana State University, and Ohio State University.
